Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is this program STARK compliant?
YES, our program is fully STARK and HIPAA compliant.

  2. Are there any hidden costs that are passed along to the patient or provider?
NO. Providers and clinic owner clients are charged an agreed-upon flat fee, and the charge never varies. Neither the number of patients entered into the program nor the amount of reimbursement from insurances will impact the fees charged to clients. We also verify every patient's insurance benefits before enrolling them in the program, discuss all aspects with them and answer any questions they may have, so they will never have unexpected costs come up at a later date.

  3. What is provided by Progressive Medical, and what does the client need to provide?
Progressive Medical Services provides a certified allergy technician to educate, test, treat and train patients. We also provide all necessary documents, educational and marketing materials, all testing, treatment, and administrative supplies, training for office staff and patients, insurance and billing support and assistance, and continued support throughout the program and all aspects. The client needs to provide an exam or procedure room that allergy testing and treatment can be completed in, a willingness by providers and office staff to participate in the program, and means to verify insurance coverage (such as Availity or an EMR).

  4. Is AIT safe?
YES. There have been several expansive studies regarding the safety of AIT, both in subcutaneous and sublingual forms, and subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) has been found to be efficacious and safe when proper guidelines are followed, which is why we at Progressive Medical Services take research, training, and continuous education very seriously and have developed strict safety guidelines and protocols based on several industry leaders including WAO, AAAAI, ACAAI, JACI and more.

  5. What are the start-up costs for clients to begin the program?
Progressive Medical Services provides almost everything for our program, so the start-up cost for a client will be nothing or very minimal, depending on what the office is already stocked with.

  6. How long does treatment last?
It varies by patient, but the recommended duration is 3-5 years for long-lasting results. But, after about 6 months, injection frequency starts to decrease until it gets to 1 injection per month for the remainder of treatment.

  7. What is the efficacy rate?
AIT doesn't have an exact documented efficacy rate due to the large number of various factors that must be considered, but 90% of patients report have reported decreased allergy symptoms and need for medications. Children with allergic disease who complete at least 5 years of AIT are 60% less likely to develop asthma than those who do not do AIT.

  8. What are the side effects?
Increased allergy symptoms may be present at the start of treatment, especially if it's peak season, but it will subside. OTC medications help during that time. Patients may also sometimes experience redness, itching, or a small bump at the injection site, but Benadryl cream helps if this does happen.

  9. What all is in AIT treatment serum? Where does it come from? Is it organic?
The serum is all natural and organic. The antigens are pure extracts carefully sourced directly from the plant/animal/mold itself. We use the nation's largest manufacturer and their team of biologists who source the antigens used in our serums. We also create each patient's serum custom tailored to their specific allergy test results, symptom history, and lifestyle needs. This way, patients are only exposed to the exact antigens they need for relief, and nothing else.
